A lot of people who work from home got a free day off yesterday, or at least got to skip their boring work meeting.
Zoom was down nationwide for about two hours yesterday. If you tried to log in or join a meeting, you got an error page that said, "This site can't be reached." Even Zoom's website wasn't working.
Users panicked and flocked to social media to see if it was just them, or if everyone was having issues. Then the memes started: One of the first memes trending was a clip of Oprah yelling, "YOU get a vacation, and YOU get a vacation!"
One person called it a corporate America "snow day." Another joked no one on their team could get in, and it was "the most productive Zoom meeting" ever.
It went down around 2:40 p.m. Eastern and got fixed around 4:15. But it took a little longer for everyone to gain access again.
Zoom sent out a tweet at 5:00 p.m. that said service had been restored. Last we heard, they still hadn't said what caused it.
Meanwhile, Spotify ALSO went down yesterday and thousands of people couldn't access their music for five hours. Spotify said it started at 6:20 a.m. Eastern, and they were back up by 11:45 a.m.
No immediate word on what happened there either, or if the two outages were related.
